Text Finder & Highlighter is a Chrome extension that allows users to save selected text from webpages and later find and highlight that text on the same page. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data.

What data does this extension collect?

This extension collects only the text that you explicitly select and choose to save. When you right-click on selected text and choose "Save this text for later," that exact text is stored locally on your device.

How is data stored?

All saved text is stored locally on your device using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API. Data is stored per website - meaning text saved from example.com is only accessible when you are on example.com.

How Your Data Is Used

The saved text is used only for:

Display - Showing in the extension popup so you can view what you've saved
Find & Highlight - Searching for and highlighting that text on the current webpage when you click on it

Data Sharing

We do not share your data with anyone.
No data is transmitted to any external servers. All data remains on your own device.

No third-party APIs are called
No analytics services are used
No data is sold or transferred

Your Rights and Control

You have complete control over your data:

Click extension icon to see all saved texts

Delete Individual

Delete any saved text with one click

Delete All

Clear all texts for current website

Browser Settings

Clear via Chrome's storage settings

Limited Use Compliance

This extension complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements because:

Data is only used to provide the core functionality (saving and finding text)
No data is transferred to third parties
No data is used for advertising or creditworthiness purposes

Children's Privacy

This extension does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. All data stored is text explicitly selected by the user.
